There are a few disappointing parts of the design though. There’s no actual music to mention. The sound effects are also almost entirely generic sounds, with bells, chimes and clicks. The Egyptian theme is solely limited to the artwork.
Strangely, the most noticeable music accompanies the special fireworks animation that plays to celebrate a big win, which is standard orchestra music that feels really out of place. Westmoreland Mall is a two-level, enclosed super-regional shopping and casino complex in the municipality of Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania, southeast of Pittsburgh, and owned and operated by CBL Properties. It was completed in 1977 and was extensively renovated and expanded in 1993–1994. Retail anchor tenants include H&M, JCPenney, Macy’s, Macy’s Backstage, Macy’s Home and Old Navy, as well as Live! Casino Pittsburgh, a 129,552 square foot gaming and entertainment complex in the mall’s south wing. It contains 1,287,620 square feet (119,624 m2) of retail space on 103 acres (0.4 km2) and over 170 retailers, making it the third-largest shopping complex in Western Pennsylvania in terms of square footage and the largest mall between Pittsburgh and Lancaster.[1]
Surrounding the mall are over 25 retailers and dining establishments, including the Westmoreland Crossing strip shopping center, which opened in 1978 and features a 15-screen AMC Theatres complex, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Levin Furniture, Michaels Arts and Crafts, Planet Fitness and T.J. Maxx. A variety of restaurants and outparcels completes the mall complex.
It is located on the eastern side of the Greater Pittsburgh Region on the heavily traveled U.S. Route 30 corridor. Adjacent to Westmoreland Mall, many big box retailers and restaurants can be found along the U.S. Route 30 and Donohoe Road retail area, which is the biggest concentration of retailers and other commercial businesses between Monroeville and Altoona.History[edit]
Prior to the development of Westmoreland Mall, the immediate area surrounding the site, known as Miller’s Woods, was a mixture of open fields and wooded land. A handful of small businesses such as the former Winky’s Restaurant (now Casual Male XL) were located on U.S. Route 30. At the time, residents shopped in Greensburg’s business district, or at Greengate Mall (now Greengate Centre), west of the city. As the demand for more retail grew in the area, Kaufmann’s and Sears approached the Rouse Company, owner of Greengate Mall, about the possibility of opening a new location at the facility. Rouse chose not to invest in the development to bring the stores in. Therefore, an idea for a new mall in the area was created.Maryland Live Casino MallProposal[edit]
In the mid-1970s, Adam Eidemiller, Inc., the development company that owned the land at the time, initially proposed building a motel on the open acreage, but eventually decided that it was not the best use of the property. The proliferation of shopping malls during the 1970s led Eidemiller to consider developing a regional mall on the site. It contacted St. Louis-based May Department Stores Company, parent of Pittsburgh-based retailer Kaufmann’s about building a mall with the department store as an anchor but was rebuffed. Later, a joint venture between Eidemiller and the Goodman Company was formed, which already had experience with developing extensive projects, including Granite Run Mall near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Construction would begin in 1975, and Kaufmann’s became the first store to open at the complex in late 1976.[2]Opening[edit]
On February 28, 1977, the 850,000-square-foot (79,000 m2) Westmoreland Mall officially opened its doors with Kaufmann’s and Sears as the anchor stores and 89 other retailers. Special events at the new mall included a visit by Mr. McFeely (played by David Newell) of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. The mall’s South Annex (now Westmoreland Crossing), originally anchored by Shop ’n Save, opened in 1978. As the years passed, the mall continued to grow, with the addition of Troutman’s Department Store (later replaced by Pomeroy’s and The Bon-Ton) and 80,000 square feet (7,000 m2) of additional retail space in 1979. By the mid-1980s, the convenience center at the South Annex was constructed, with 40,000 square feet (4,000 m2) of space for 12 to 15 new stores and restaurants. At this time, the mall was owned and operated by The Kravco Company, now Simon Property Group.[3] The rapid growth of Westmoreland Mall brought increasing pressure to smaller cross-town rival Greengate Mall, which was anchored by Horne’s, JCPenney and Montgomery Ward. Greengate took proactive measures to remain competitive with Westmoreland Mall as it completed a makeover in 1981 and attempted to remerchandise and lease the center to new merchants well into the late 1980s.Renovation and expansion[edit]Casino Mall Of America
By the early 1990s, significant retailer demand for additional space as well as increasing competition from Pittsburgh-area malls prompted the mall’s owners to consider redeveloping the property. In response, it went through a $33 million renovation and expansion project, which began in 1993 and ended with the grand opening of JCPenney, which relocated from Greengate Mall, in 1994. The expansion also brought another 66,000 square feet (6,100 m2) for 20 new retailers and a spacious food court, as well as a three-level parking garage and a new entrance. The last major mall addition took place in 1999, when Carmike Cinemas (now AMC Theatres) opened a new 15-screen stadium-style seating movie theater abutting the annex. The former 4-screen movie theater and a couple of adjacent shops at the mall were converted into Kaufmann’s Home, which has since been renamed Macy’s Home.Live! Casino Pittsburgh[edit]
Live! Casino Pittsburgh is a $150 million, 129,552 square foot gaming and entertainment complex at Westmoreland Mall, which was built in the former Bon-Ton building. It is owned and operated by Baltimore-based Cordish Companies. The casino officially opened for business on November 24, 2020, following a soft opening the week prior.
On August 14, 2019, officials with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board awarded Cordish a gaming license to operate the two-story facility. Demolition began on the interior of the building in late 2019, with a groundbreaking ceremony held on November 13, 2019. Construction on the casino would be impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, although the project would be completed in just one year.Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Mall

Currently, Westmoreland Mall features two major department stores including JCPenney and Macy’s, who own their own buildings and operate at the mall under long-term ground leases. Three junior anchor stores also occupy the mall under long-term leases, including Swedish retailer H&M on the upper level near Center Court, Macy’s Home on the lower level adjacent to Macy’s, and Old Navy, located near Sears on the lower level. In addition, Live! Casino Pittsburgh serves as the mall’s third anchor.
Sears, Roebuck and Co. originally operated a store along North Main Street in Downtown Greensburg. In the 1960s, Sears would relocate east of town to the site of what is now the Davis Center. A freestanding auto service center, now AAMCO Transmissions, was also built adjacent to the main store. At the time of the mall’s development, the new Sears store would be twice as large as its predecessor, and offer a larger selection of merchandise on two levels. On December 28, 2018, it was announced that Sears would be closing as part of a plan to close 80 stores nationwide. The store closed on March 17, 2019.[4]
JCPenney, like Sears, has also been in Greensburg since the early 1900s, originally located along South Main Street. It would replace its original store with a larger one at the former Greengate Mall, which operated from 1971 to 1994, when it relocated to Westmoreland Mall. In 2010, the JCPenney store was extensively renovated and a Sephora cosmetics shop opened on the store’s upper level.Casino Mall At Piqua Ohio
Troutman’s, which had a few locations in the area, operated its flagship store in Downtown Greensburg since the early 1920s. However, it would also open a new location at Westmoreland Mall in 1979. Nonetheless, the downtown store would coexist with the mall location for a few years until its closure in 1985. Its sister store at Westmoreland was subsequently converted to Pomeroy’s before being acquired by the parent company of The Bon-Ton in 1987. On April 18, 2018, it was announced that The Bon-Ton would close due to the company’s liquidation.[5] The store closed on July 29, 2018. On December 5, 2018, The Cordish Companies unveiled plans for the Live! Casino Pittsburgh gaming and entertainment complex in the former Bon-Ton building. The facility opened on November 24, 2020.
Pittsburgh-based retailer Kaufmann’s never had a presence in Westmoreland County until the mall’s opening in 1977. The sensation of knee instability or weak knees, which many describe as the knee ’giving out,’ may occur suddenly or develop gradually over time. It may be the only symptom of a problem or be accompanied by signs such as popping, locking, pain, bruising, or swelling. Pseudo locked knee occurs when severe knee pain triggers the knee muscles to spasm and contract. It is an automatic defense mechanism that the body uses to discourage movement of the knee.
There are 4 major ligaments in the knee. Ligaments are elastic bands of tissue that connect bones to each other and provide stability and strength to the joint. The four main ligaments in the knee connect the femur (thighbone) to the tibia (shin bone), and include the following:

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The ligament, located in the center of the knee, that controls rotation and forward movement of the tibia (shin bone).

Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL). The ligament, located in the back of the knee, that controls backward movement of the tibia (shin bone).

Medial collateral ligament (MCL). The ligament that gives stability to the inner knee.

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the most common ligaments to be injured. Sharp knee pain can be extremely unpleasant, often stopping people in their tracks. It usually indicates a problem in one of the knee bones, or the surrounding neural structures. Sharp pain can also occur when there is damage to the soft tissues in and around the knee.
Sharp knee pain is often fairly short lived, coming on suddenly with a particular movement and then easing quickly when you stop the aggravating activity.
In some cases the sharp pain in and around the knee will persist, but often it either settles completely, or eases leaving behind a residual, ongoing ache or throbbing type pain.
When the sharp pain is confined to the knee joint, it usually indicates a problem in the knee joint itself such as a soft tissue injury or inflammation of the joint. If it accompanied by a shooting pain that travels down the leg, that usually indicates a neural problem either at the knee itself, or in the lower back.
Common Causes of Sharp Knee Pain
The most common causes of sharp knee pain are:

*Torn Knee Cartilage: the special cushioning the lines the knee joint
*Knee Bursitis: inflammation of anti-friction sac
*Knee Arthritis: wear and tear
*Loose Body: bone fragment floating in the joint
*Fracture: broken bone
*Nerve Irritation: nerve gets squashed or irritated
Here we will look at the common causes of sharp knee pain, how they present and how to work out what is going on in your knee. We then look more in-depth at how to treat these different causes of sharp pain in the knee.1. Soft Tissue Injuries
Injuries to the soft tissues in the knee are the most common cause of sharp knee pain. Most typically sharp pain develops when there is damage to the cartilage lining the knee joint or inflammation in the knee bursa.Knee Cartilage Tear
Sharp pain in the knee is most commonly caused by something getting stuck in the knee joint.

The surface of each knee bone is covered in a thick layer of cartilage which allows smooth, pain-free movement by working as a spacer between the joints so that as the knee moves, there is no friction on the bones. The knee cartilage also works as a shock absorber to reduce the forces going through the knee with activities such as running and jumping.
If this knee cartilage gets damaged, then small fragments can tear off and get stuck in the joint.
There are two ways this can happen:

*Cartilage Fragment: A small piece of cartilage may have torn off completely from the main bulk of the meniscus and be floating around in the knee joint

*Bucket Handle Tear: This is where a partial tear in the cartilage leaves a loose flap that is only partially attached to the meniscus. This flap can move around slightly and occasionally gets stuck in the joint
When a loose portion of cartilage gets stuck in the joint, it typically causes a sharp pain and often results in locking, where the knee joint gets stuck and you can’t move your leg. Usually after a few seconds of wiggling the knee around, the cartilage moves slightly and once the fragment is no longer stuck, the pain subsides and the knee moves freely.

Knee bursitis is another cause of sharp knee pain and can affect any part of the knee.
Around the knee are various fluid filled sacs, known as knee bursa, which sit between soft tissues and bone to reduce friction and pressure on the knee structures.
If the bursa get inflamed and then squashed, it can result in a sharp pain in the knee.
The location of the pain indicates which bursa is affected. If the sharp pain is at the:Occasional Knee Popping Pain
*Front of the Knee: or just below the knee cap, likely prepatellar bursitis, aka housemaid’s knee,
*Behind the Knee: it is likely a Bakers Cyst.
*Inner Side of the Knee:Pes Anserine bursitis typically causes pain on the inner side of the knee
*Outer Side of The Knee: iliotibial bursitis causes pain on the outer side of the knee, typically affecting runners.

There are also a number of bone problems that can cause sharp knee pain. There are three bones associated with the knee which form two separate joints.

*Tibiofemoral Joint:is what we typically think of as the knee joint and is where the femur and tibia, the thigh and shin bones, meet

*Patellofemoral Joint:the kneecap joint between the femur and patella, the thigh bone and kneecapJoint Wear & Tear
A sharp pain in the knee may be a sign of wear and tear inside the joint. Damage to the cartilage, either through wear and tear causing it to thin and fray, or through an injury which causes it to tear, can lead to the formation of osteophytes, small lumps of bone which stick out slightly.

These osteophytes reduce the space between the bones and without the cartilage to protect and cover them, bone rubs against bone. This typically leads to arthritis.
When the knee moves, there is friction and pressure on the osteophytes which results in sharp knee pain. In this instance, the sharp pain comes on quickly when the knee moves into a position that places pressure on the osteophytes, typically with activities where there is weight going through a bent or twisted knee.
Once you move the knee into a different position and relieve the pressure on the osteophytes, the sharp pain goes away, but it may leave a residual aching pain.
Often, walking itself feels ok, but when you add any extra pressure to the knee joint such as squatting, twisting, running or going up and down stairs, that brings on the sharp knee pain.
If the sharp pain gets worse going upstairs typically indicates a problem with the tibiofemoral joint, whereas if your sharp knee pain is worse coming down the stairs it is more likely to be a problem with the kneecap.

Sharp knee pain can also occur when something gets stuck in the knee joint as it moves. In most cases, it is a small fragment of bone that gets stuck, typically a osteophyte that has broken off. Alternatively, it could be a small fragment of cartilage that has torn off the meniscus.Occasional Knee Popping On Right Side
One or more of these small fragments, known as loose bodies, may be floating around within the joint capsule. It may at times get trapped in the joint causing sharp knee pain and may even cause the knee to lock. Once it moves out of the way, the pain typically subsides and normal knee movement returns.
Pain from a loose body tends to be intermittent rather than constant. It won’t happen every time you do a certain activity, it will most likely catch you off guard when you are not expecting it. If there is severe sharp knee pain, that is unrelenting and started due to an injury may indicate a break in one of the knee bones.

With a broken bone, there is often considerable swelling and there may be an obvious deformity. Any movement of the bones, however small, is likely to produce a severe, sharp pain in the knee as the broken pieces of bone rub on each other.
It takes a lot of force to break one of the knee bones so you normally know straight away that something is wrong.
The break may be in either the tibia or femur, or if you have fallen onto the front of the knee, there may be a patella fracture.3. Nerve Problems
Sharp pain in the knee can also be caused by a neural problem - something wrong with one of more of the nerves travelling from the spine down to through the legs.
Our nerves are like electrical cables and run all over our body. The nerves of the leg arise from the bottom part of the spine branching out to the different parts of the thigh, knee, calf and foot. They transmit messages from the brain and spinal cord to the muscles to tell them what to do and carry signals regarding sensation such as pressure, pain and temperature.
If a nerve gets squashed or irritated, we typically experience a sharp pain. This may be felt locally at the point where it is trapped, or it may also travel further along the path of the nerve, feeling more like a shooting pain. The sharp pain may also be accompanied by pins and needles or numbness or in more serious cases muscle weakness.

Nerve pain can be due to the nerve getting squashed or trapped, for example by an osteophyte, a particularly tight muscle or a disc bulge in the spine. The nerve can also get irritated if it is surrounded by inflammatory chemicals found in swelling.

So sharp knee pain from a neural problem may be caused by:
*Soft Tissue Injury: in the knee which results in swelling with the inflammatory chemicals irritating the nerve e.g. cartilage tear

*Osteophytes in the Knee: trapping the nerve e.g. arthritis

*Osteophytes in the Spine: trapping the nerve in the lower back typically spinal stenosis

*Inflammation in the Spine e.g. disc bulge or herniation in the lower back which both places pressure on the nerve and irritates it

Sharp Knee Pain Causes By Activity
*Sharp Knee Pain When Walking: If the knee pain is worse when you first start walking and then eases, it is likely due to arthritis. If your sharp knee pain gets worse the more you walk, it is likely neural. If it is easier walking uphill or when bent slightly forwards and worse when walking downhill or when upright, it is likely spinal stenosis

*Sharp Knee Pain When Bending: If your knee pain gets worse when bending your knee, it is likely a problem in the knee joint such as arthritis or a cartilage tear. If it is worse when bending your back e.g. reaching down to put your shoes on, it is likely due to a problem in your lower back

*Sharp Knee Pain When Standing: If the knee pain gets worse when standing still but eases with movement, it is likely from arthritis. If your sharp knee pain gets worse with activity it is likely a mechanical problem in the knee such as a cartilage tear or referred pain from the lower back

*Sharp Knee Pain Twisting: This usually indicates that something is getting stuck in the joint, either a loose body or a flap of torn cartilage. It may also indicate instability in the knee due to a ligament sprain or tear

*Sharp Knee Pain When Kicking: This usually indicates an issue with the stability of the knee, typically an ACL injury

*Sharp Knee Pain When Kneeling Down: A sharp needle like pain in knee when kneeling usually indicates that something is being squashed, typically an inflamed bursa, known as knee bursitis. There is often obvious swelling with bursitis resembling a squashy orange

*Sharp Knee Pain When Climbing Stairs: Sharp knee pain going upstairs typically indicates a problem with the knee joint (tibiofemoral joint) whereas if the pain is worse coming down stairs, the problem is most likely in the kneecap. Find out more in the knee pain on stairs section

Reagan spent vacations during his presidency at the ranch, which became known as the Western White House. He signed the Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981 at the ranch and at various times hosted British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Queen Elizabeth II and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.[4] After leaving the presidency in 1989, the Reagans moved to a home in Bel-Air, California but kept the ranch as a retreat.
Because of his Alzheimer’s disease, Reagan last visited the ranch in 1995. Citing an incomplete quote of President Donald Trump’s answer to a question during Tuesday night’s presidential debate, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) declared Trump a fascist white supremacist.
Ocasio-Cortez made the claim in a late-night Tweet following the debate:
“Donald Trump is a white supremacist. People have been warning about this for a long time. They were ridiculed, called hyperbolic & radical - not bc they were wrong, but bc others couldn’t accept that our country elected a supremacist as President. Youtube soty family christmas. This is fascism at our door.”
In her tweet, Ocasio-Cortez included an Axios tweet of video and its account of an exchange between Trump and debate Moderator Chris Wallace. Axios reported the question and Trump’s answer as:
On June 28, 2018, Ocasio-Cortez told CNN she would support the impeachment of President Trump, citing Trump’s alleged violations of the Emoluments Clause and stating that ’we have to hold everyone accountable and that no person is above that law.’

While some members of Congress have claimed that President Trump’s impeachment and swift conviction are necessary to keep him from serving out the final days of his term, others have acknowledged that they are focused on keeping him from ever running again.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on the House floor before the vote on impeachment that Trump ’must go’ and that he is ’a clear and present danger,’ but remarks from her colleagues indicate they are concerned about what they view as a potential future threat.
’One of the other purposes of impeachment, in this case, is to make sure that President Trump is not able to run for federal office again, that he’s not able to seek the presidency,’ Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, told ABC’s ’This Week’ on Sunday.
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., told CNN’s ’State of the Union’ that the Constitution ’talks about conviction, removal, and disqualification from holding further public office.’ Both Raskin and Castro are House impeachment managers.
Even Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., who claimed that Trump needed to be removed immediately, acknowledged that there is another motive behind impeaching him.
’Every minute and every hour that he is in office represents a clear and present danger not just to the United States Congress but frankly to the country,’ Ocasio-Cortez told ABC, adding that ’we’re also talking about complete barring of the president, or rather of Donald Trump, from running for office ever again.’
The argument that Trump must be removed from office due to any current threat he poses to the country has clearly not been shared by all Democrats. House Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., told CNN before the House voted on impeachment that the impeachment might not even be sent over to the Senate until months from now so that it would not distract from President-elect Joe Biden’s first 100 days in office.

EXCLUSIVE — A conservative group that filed a complaint with the FEC alleging Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign may have illegally funneled thousands of dollars through an allied PAC to boyfriend Riley Roberts on Thursday lodged a fresh complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics.
The new filing also concerns the famous congresswoman’s boyfriend, but focuses on his use of a congressional email account.
The Coolidge Reagan Foundation, a political nonprofit, alleges in the complaint that the New York Democratic lawmaker used her newly found congressional privileges in an unethical manner when she set up the House email address for Roberts.
“This Complaint alleges Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez improperly converted U.S. House resources to her non-official, personal use by obtaining an official ‘@mail.house.gov’ e-mail address for her boyfriend, despite the fact he was not employed by her congressional office,” reads a line from the complaint obtained by Fox News.
“Moreover, it appears she obtained the e-mail address for him by falsely designating him a ‘staff’ member.”
Attorneys for the foundation allege that Ocasio-Cortez violated restrictions on personal use of House services and equipment—as outlined in the House Ethics Manual. They maintain that the provision of an official House-based email address for Roberts is a violation of rules that prevent outside individuals from having an official account. Asked about the arrangement last month, David O’Boyle, the spokesperson for the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, told Fox News: ’From time to time, at the request of members, spouses and partners are provided House email accounts for the purposes of viewing the member’s calendar.’
But Jason Chaffetz, former GOP chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said Ocasio-Cortez’ claims don’t stack up.
’It’s totally naïve and inappropriate – you wouldn’t allow it in most companies, let alone the House of Representatives. There should be real consequences,” Chaffetz told Fox News.
The newly filed complaint is the latest to question the operations of Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign and congressional office.
It was first reported last month that the allied Brand New Congress PAC paid Roberts during the early days of the Ocasio-Cortez campaign. According to FEC records, the PAC made two payments to Roberts – one in August 2017 and one in September 2017 – both for $3,000.
A week later, the Coolidge Reagan Foundation filed its first complaint with the Federal Election Commission, requesting that the agency look into the payments for potential violations on relevant campaign finance laws that state that campaign contributions “shall not be converted by any person to personal use” and that “an authorized committee must report the name and address of each person who has received any disbursement not disclosed.”

The FEC complaint specifically cites the use of ’intermediaries’ to make the payments, ’the vague and amorphous nature of the services Riley ostensibly provided,’ the relatively small amount of money raised by the campaign at that stage and ’the romantic relationship between Ocasio-Cortez and Riley’ in asserting the transactions might violate campaign finance law.
“It’s not illegal for [Ocasio-Cortez] to pay her boyfriend, but it appears that they created some sort of scheme to avoid claiming the money [as a campaign expense],” Backer told Fox News at the time. “What exactly did he do for that money?”
A separate complaint was filed with the FEC from another group alleging that the congresswoman and Saikat Chakrabarti, her chief of staff, apparently violated campaign finance law by funneling nearly $1 million in contributions from political action committees Chakrabarti established to private companies that he also controlled.
The FEC complaint asserts that Chakrabarti established two PACs, the Brand New Congress PAC and Justice Democrats PAC, and then systematically transferred more than $885,000 in contributions received by those PACs to the Brand New Campaign LLC and the Brand New Congress LLC -- companies that, unlike PACs, are exempt from reporting all of their significant expenditures. The PACs claimed the payments were for ’strategic consulting.’
Although large financial transfers from PACs to LLCs are not necessarily improper, the complaint argues that the goal of the ’extensive’ scheme was seemingly to illegally dodge detailed legal reporting requirements of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, which are designed to track campaign expenditures.
’It appears ’strategic consulting’ was a mischaracterization of a wide range of activities that should have been reported individually,’ the complaint states.

The movie opens with a car bombing, and the figure of Sam ’Ace’ Rothstein floating through the air. The movie explains how such a thing came to happen to him. It’s an interesting process. Assuming you could steal 25 percent of the slot-machine take - what would you do with tons of coins? How would you convert them into bills that could be stuffed into the weekly suitcase for delivery to the mob in Kansas City? ’Casino’ knows. It also knows how to skim from the other games, and from food service and the gift shops. And it knows about how casinos don’t like to be stolen from.
There’s an incident where a man is cheating at blackjack, and a couple of security guys sidle up to him and jab him with a stun gun.
He collapses, the security guys call for medical attention, and hurry him away to a little room where they pound on his fingers with a mallet and he agrees that he made a very bad mistake.
Rothstein, based on the real-life figure of Frank (Lefty) Rosenthal, starts life as a sports oddsmaker in Chicago, attracts the attention of the mob because of his genius with numbers and is assigned to run casinos because he looks like an efficient businessman who will encourage the Vegas goose to continue laying its golden eggs.
